D – Dinotopia

James Gurney’s Dinotopia was probably one of the most beautiful books I ever owned as a child.

I was initially really excited when I’d heard that he’d published a 3rd book, but after thumbing through it at B&N, I was really disappointed, since he kinda phoned it in and was definitely not on par with the first two (though the art was still amazing), and since the original books came out, there have been numerous spin-offs by other authors, a pretty good mini-series, a series that I never saw, and god knows what else.

Still, this is one of those books/worlds that one just really wishes they had a nice encyclopedic sourcebook for to game in.
