Last Day For the Wild Stars IGG! + On Geek Gab with Jeffro Johnson

Update: John Trent’s interview with Michael Tierney at Bounding Into Comics has gone live!

Today is the last day for the Wild Stars IndieGoGo. And while I don’t expect a miracle that would land us $5500 in backers on the last day, it would be nice to get some numbers up. [It’s a flexible campaign, and all backers will have their perks fulfilled.]

We got all of the cover art in from Mark Wheatley, so we should be able to start getting the softcover proofs very soon.

Back Covers

I did another Wild Stars Noise Stream. This time, actually live. But because it was my first time, and I am a pleb, you can hear the “how does i obs?” vid I was checking to make sure I could hear my own streaming audio in the first couple seconds of the stream.

In a non-Wild Stars related note, I was on Geek Gab with Jeffro Johnson to talk about AD&D. This was really cool, especially since this is the first time Jeffro and I have actually talked, not just via email and blog comments. So it was kind of a big deal to me!

Wild Stars Mega Round Up Post

We’ve been talking about the Wild Stars and plugging it all over the place, so we thought it would be a good idea to do a round-up post!

We’ve only got two weeks left in the Wild Stars IndieGoGo, and we REALLY NEED TO HIT THAT $8K goal! Especially if you guys want more Cirsova Magazine in 2020. This project’s will give us the funds we need to make it happen!

If you missed it live, you can now catch the podcast version of our appearance from last Saturday on Shane Plays. Michael and I talk about his fantastic Wild Stars epic.

Also, I’ll be on the Superversive Sunday live stream with Ben Wheeler, so be sure to sub and tune in.

We really need our readers and supporters to back the Wild Stars IGG ASAP! We’ve only managed to raise $2k of our $8k goal, and… well, Cirsova Publishing REALLY needs to make this happen if we’re going to have any traction going into 2020!

Soon we’ll have the last cover from Mark Wheatley and the omnibus cover from Anton Oxenuk to show you!

Cirsova Presents: Wild Star Rising!

The IndieGoGo is live!

Cirsova Publishing is teaming up once again with Michael Tierney to publish his all new SFF time-travel adventure set in his Wild Stars universe, Wild Star Rising!

Plus, to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Wild Stars, Cirsova will be releasing all-new premium magazine-style editions of the Wild Stars graphic novel, Book of Circles, and the hybrid comic/novel, Force Majeure. We’ll also be reprinting a new 2019 edition of last year’s Kickstarter-exclusive illustrated novella, Time Warmageddon.

Cirsova Publishing is creating an all new standard edition of all previous Wild Stars books that will match the new release, Wild Star Rising.

Wild Stars: Book of Circles collects the early comics, Erlik (WS Vo1 1 #1) and First Marker (WS Vol 2 #1), placed chronologically within the 2001-2002 run of Wild Stars comics (WS Vol 3 #1-7)

Book of Circles tells the story of conflicting timelines and parallel worlds that culminate an alliance between a wolf-like alien race called the Brothan and alternate time-line fascists, the Artomiques, that aims to attack and destroy the earth by launching a comet at Jupiter to ignite it as a second sun.

These comics feature artwork by Frank Brunner (Doctor Strange, Howard the Duck), David Brewer (Cable, Deadpool), Dave Simons (Ghost Rider), and Michael Tierney, plus the collected editions feature additional painted works by Mary Tierney.

This new edition of the almost 300 page graphic novel will be printed in Cirsova Magazine’s standard 8.5″ x 11″ format, and will fit nicely on the shelf between your collection of Cirsovas and the rest of the 35th Anniversary Wild Stars books.

Wild Stars II: Force Majeure wraps an 83,000 word novel around 38 pages of comics penciled by Armando Gil (Conan the King, Ka-Zar the Savage), along with 50 ‘flashback’ illustrations by Dave Simons.

Seeking revenge for his defeat, Carthage kidnaps the First Marker’s infant daughter and absconds with her through time! Erlik and Daestar aid Mark Mackavicka and Akara in their search through time for their missing daughter. Except to preserve the future and prevent a resurgence of the Brothan empire, they can’t rescue Mark and Akara’s daughter until she’s already a grown woman!

This new edition of the novel / comic hybrid will be printed in Cirsova Magazine’s standard 8.5″ x 11″ format.

Wild Stars III: Time Warmageddon continues the saga of the Wild Stars as former-President Bully Bravo seeks to solve the mysteries of distant suns going missing, only to be replaced by white dwarfs, and newly discovered planets showing the apparent signs of previous human colonization, all while pursued by an evil pirate queen and a rogue time-traveler trying to create a god.

This novella featured cover art by Timothy Lim (My Hero Magademia, Black Hops: USA GI, Street Fighter), and interior illustrations  and two variant covers by Mark Wheatley (Song of Giants: the Poetry of Pulp, The Flash, Blood of the Innocent).

This new edition will reprint this one-time Kickstarter-exclusive edition with new bonus content, including an additional epilogue on the whereabouts of Akara and the First Marker, two stories by Michael Tierney originally published in Cirsova Magazine, and the previously unpublished Wild Stars story, The Grimgrip.

Wild Stars IV: Wild Star Rising is both a prequel and sequel to the previous Wild Stars adventures. Looking back 75,000 years into the past to the last days of Atlantis and the final exodus to the Wild Stars led by the Ancient Warrior, Wild Star Rising unfolds the aeons-long plan to rescue the Ancient Warrior’s long-lost beloved, Phaedra, from the heart of a black hole where she was imprisoned by another powerful immortal… A sailor from earth’s distant past must join with the Ancient Warrior’s Wild Stars companions to help them navigate the great gulfs of space, free Phaedra from her black-hole prison, and stop the extra-dimensional squids that could destroy the universe if they can meet up and mate!

This illustrated novel will be printed in Cirsova Magazine’s 8.5″ x 11″ format, matching the previously released Time Warmageddon, the new 35th Anniversary Editions of Book of Circles and Force Majeure, and your collection of Cirsovas!

This edition will also contain the first-ever extensive bio-glossary of Wild Stars universe, making it a must-have for old and new fans alike!

Wild Stars Coming Soon!

We’ve been working very closely the last two months with Michael Tierney on a very special project: a 35th Anniversary Edition of his Wild Stars epic!

The scope of this project is unlike anything Cirsova Publishing has ever done before.

  • Wild Stars IV: Wild Star Rising – We will be releasing an all-new Wild Stars novel that is both prequel and sequel to the earlier Wild Stars saga, telling the story of the final space exodus from Earth 75,000 years ago and the Ancient Warrior’s gambit to finally free Phaedra from her prison at the heart of a supermassive black hole. This volume will also contain the first ever extensive bio-glossary of the Wild Stars universe: a must have for old fans and new!
  • Wild Stars III: Time Warmageddon – We will be reprinting the formerly Kickstarter-exclusive short novel, Time Warmageddon, with corrected text and a new epilogue. Plus this will collect two previous published stories, Shark Fighter and The Grass Maiden [originally Bears of 1812], and an all-new never-before published Wild Stars short story, The Grimgrip.
  • Wild Stars II: Force Majeure – We will be reprinting a new edition of Force Majeure, the hybrid comic/novel that expanded the story of Prairie Bay and continues the time-travel adventures of Erlik, Daestar, Akara, and Mack.
  • Wild Stars I: Book of Circles – We will be reprinting a new edition of Book of Circles, the original Wild Stars graphic novel collecting Erlik (1984), First Marker (1988) and the 2001-2002 run of Wild Stars.
  • Wild Stars Omnibus – We will be collecting all 4 volumes of Wild Stars in a single massive hardcover volume!

The individual volumes will feature new virgin covers by art legend Mark Wheatley, and the omnibus will feature a wrap-around dust-jacket by Cirsova’s own fabulous cover artist, Anton Oxenuk.

We’ll have more info on the goodies we’ll be offering soon, but we will be using IndieGoGo to take domestic pre-order beginning June 28th for a release in October.

Important notice to our non-US fans and supporters

Cirsova Publishing has MANY loyal fans and devoted readers all over the world. Some who have supported us since the very beginning. We love you all and would not be where we are without you!

That is why, even though the IndieGoGo will be domestic only, we will do everything we can to make sure you are taken care of!

The truth is when we are not doing direct fulfillment, shipping costs swing very wildly based on country and package weight. Trying to predictively configure accurate shipping costs for every country we might conceivably ship to is difficult and time-consuming. Sometimes we’ve found we’ve undercharged and lost money; other times we’ve found we’ve overcharged [when we have, we’ve tried to refund the difference].

So, we humbly ask you to bear with us on this!

If you live outside of the US and want items from the Wild Stars IndieGoGo, please contact us so that we can offer you an accurate quote!

Overseas orders will be handled separately after the crowdfund has been completed.

Unlike the editions offered through last year’s Wild Stars III Kickstarter, these editions will remain in print and be commercially available through normal channels.

Certain exclusive goodies that we have lined up will be held back in limited quantities and made available to our overseas supporters once we have had a chance to figure out our shipping costs and weights.

Please stay tuned for more details and announcements!

Also, be sure to visit www.thewildstars.com for more info about Wild Stars and Michael Tierney.

Will Cirsova Crowdfund?

No. We won’t.

Recently it was revealed that not only had Kickstarter blocked Richard Meyer’s Jawbreakers campaign for alleged TOS violations [it was, as I understand an apolitical comic, and despite being mildly too salty for people with emotional hypertension, Richard is a fairly apolitical guy], they leaked their communications with him to Richard Pace who dumped them all over Twitter.

Now, IndieGoGo decided to tank Chuck Dixon’s Alt-Hero Q project after it had finished funding for nebulous claims that it had violated their terms of service. Backers have been refunded their money, but there’s nothing on the project page that would seem to violate the terms of service. IndieGoGo pulled the plug on Alt-Hero Q the same day that a Bleeding Cool article featuring an in-depth interview with Vox Day was posted. Following the outcry of their lunatic readers, Bleeding Cool took down the article and issued an apology. This is certainly not a coincidence.

Cirsova has never really NEEDED to crowdfund. All of our projects are finished and paid for by the time that the Kickstarters have gone live, which is how we’ve been able to ship out as soon as the money clears. Before the Alt-Hero Q incident, we had considered moving to IndieGoGo; we even have an extensive Illustrated Stark project page setup and waiting for us to flip the go-live switch. This changes things, however. Going forward, we plan on taking our products straight to print, making them available on Amazon and through retailers without spending a month flogging a crowdfunding event.

We hope you will stick with us despite no longer using these platforms.

[Disclosure: While I backed for Chuck Dixon’s Alt-Hero: Avalon on Freestartr, a platform that was recently murdered by its payment processor, I was not a backer of either Jawbreakers or Alt-Hero Q.]
