Pundit Kirsten Powers just used an album that my now-defunct Record Label put out as an example of Kickstarter’s double standard in censoring a project on Kermit Gosnell, the abortionist who was convicted of murdering a large number of live babies.
So, uh… if you’re interested in checking out the Rachael Please album, Incest is the Highest Form of Flattery, I’ve still got a box of unsold copies. You can buy them here from amazon.
I’m really broke, and the kid who recorded the album is really broke, so if this ended up being a sleeper hit, that would be pretty awesome.
Edit: For the record, Kermit Gosnell is a monster and the more people who are aware of it, the better. I do not in any way shape or form support Kickstarter’s blocking of the project to do a documentary on him. The irony is I would not even know that I were mentioned if I did not regularly read Breitbart.
Edit 2: I haven’t been flooded with messages or mail about this yet, but I’d like to warn the dozen readers I have here that should this thing spiral out of control, I may be taking down Cirsova and leaving the internet for a bit. But as it’s been nearly 24 hours and I’m just now finding out about this myself, I don’t think I have anything to worry about yet. Would I like to get a box of CDs out of my closet? Yes. Do I want to become a public figure tied in any way shape or form to Kermit Gosnell or any national political debate on censorship and late term abortion? Heck, no. I spend most of my time under a rock, and under a rock I’ll stay.
Edit 3: Rachael Please has pointed out to me the irony that s/he is also pro-life.
You may or may not have noticed that there’s a new “Page” link in the upper corner called “Music Store“.
You should click on it 🙂
I said awhile back that I’d let everyone know what was up with my business and whether or not I’d be continuing it into the new year. Personal problems, car problems, all sorts of crazy problems have led to me to the conclusion that I simply cannot afford to run a small business/hobby business, pouring money and time into it for very little return. I’ve concluded that it’s something I need to take a break from, stack up some chips, so to speak, concentrate on my girlfriend, my day job, and on Cirsova. As such, Retro Virus Records is no longer going to be a “business”, at least for the immediate future, and I’m probably not going to be putting out near as much music as I used to, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still have a ton of CDs and LPs that are sitting around either in my storage room or on the shelves of various distributors.
So, I invite you to check out some of these albums. They’ll be marked down soon, especially from the Kunaki store, so they might make some nice Christmas presents for folks.
Also, over the next month or so, I’ll be doing some “spotlights” on each of these old albums.
My little record label, Retro Virus Records, is putting out a new album by a pretty awesome band, Rachael Please. They’re sort of like a cross between Tool and Nine Inch Nails. They’re from the middle of nowhere southern Missouri, but sound like they could be from one of the big scenes.
Their new album, Incest is the Highest Form of Flattery, is available for pre-order on Amazon right now and will be out on November 5th. So, do me a favor and check it out. If you’re interested, you can download their previous EP for free.
